Ev'ry Shannannara, ev'ry woh-o woh woh -- still shines

Not ev'ry Shannara, actually: so that post title is a bit of a lie. But the first three, at any rate. Indexed here:

Terry Brooks, The Sword of Shannara (1977)

Terry Brooks, The Elfstones of Shannara (1982)

Terry Brooks, The Kitschsong of Shannara (1985)

  1. The fact that there are, like, twenty-something books in this series boggles my mind. Robert Jordan begins to look concise and to-the-point.

  2. Well, yes. Though at least the Shannara books are all, I think I'm right in saying, different stories, set at different times in the realm's imaginary history. Unlike Wheel of Time, which tells one story that trudges increasingly slowly (book 1 tells the first third of the story; books 2-3 the second third; books 4 to 1250 the remaining 99/300ths ...) through the treacle of the asymptote.

  3. I just...honestly, I can't fathom why you're subjecting yourself to this. These books seem so painful.
